Personal Bio:
Running has always been more than a sport to me. It’s where I find peace, freedom, and strength. My journey began in elementary school in China, where I trained with the track team in the 800m and 1500m. I stepped away from running during middle and high school, but when I came to the U.S. for college at Northwestern in Evanston, IL, I rediscovered it. As an international student, running became my way to manage the fast pace, new challenges, and to embrace the beauty of the campus by Lake Michigan. Before long, I was running 10km every day.
My first marathon was the Des Plaines River Trail Marathon in 2021, where I finished in 4 hour 29 mins. I made plenty of rookie mistakes, but the experience toughened me up and left me eager to do more.
After graduation, I moved from Chicago to Kansas City for work. At first, I was still running more casually, but last year I committed to serious training with the goal of qualifying for Boston. At the 2024 KC Garmin Marathon, I ran 3:19:31 and finished among the top 10 female runners and earned my Boston Qualifier. That race showed me what I was capable of, and running has since become an even more defining part of my life.
This year, I’m training for the Chicago Marathon, my first World Major, with hopes of running under 3:05. Looking ahead, my goal is to break 3 hours and eventually complete all World Marathon Majors.
Running has shaped me in so many ways. It clears my mind, teaches me discipline, connects me with nature, and introduces me to inspiring fellow runners. I hope to keep enjoying every run and living each day to the fullest!
