Shannon ran track in high school and AAU. He was a state finalist in the 200m and 400m in 2001. In AAU track Shannon was Missouri champion numerous years in the 200m and 400m. Shannon went further to rank top 5 in the country in the 400m at the Junior Olympic games. Shannon decided to pursue other endeavors and did not return to running until his early 30’s, as a way to stay healthy.
Shannon ran his first half marathon in 2012, for a new challenge, that sparked his urge to compete in the Show- Me State games. On his return to competitive track, Shannon earned silver medals in the 100m and 200m. After a short return back into the sport Shannon chose to take his experience and expertise and become an assistant coach in track & field.
Shannon’s goal is to promote Kansas City smoke and become the indoor and outdoor Masters division champion.
