Bio:
Chris is a new addition to the Kansas City Smoke. In late 2020, he moved back to his hometown from Portland, Oregon, with his Argentinian wife and young daughter. Since returning to KC, he’s racked up wins and top masters finishes in a variety of road, track, and trail races of all distances in the regional area.
Chris ran on his high school cross country team, then continued to run in college for two years as a scholarship athlete on Loyola Marymount University’s cross country team. After getting injured in his sophomore season, he stopped racing altogether. Crippling depression, anxiety, and a serious drug dependency followed, and for over a decade these issues pulled him away from the sport he loved. In 2013, Chris decided to get serious about running again and began the long journey back to being a competitive runner.

His personal bests as a masters runner include a 4:49 mile, 10:05 for two miles, 16:12 5k, 34:37 10k, 1:17 half marathon, 2:52 marathon, and 4:03 50k. In 2021, he competed in 18 races and took 1st masters finisher in 16 of them; a podium spot in 9. In 2022, he continued his streak of strong finishes in the 20 races he competed in, taking top masters finisher in all but two of them and a podium spot in 13. He hopes to continue notching top finishes in 2023, and is excited about setting bigger and bolder goals, believing he has many more PRs to achieve with his “old man strength.”
